All Blues For Jazz Guitar is a very well thought-out edition on jazz-styled blues, intended to fill in comping and line gaps left by other jazz volumes. There is a lot of truth to author's statements that much of the more complex jazz standards can be mastered by understanding the blues. From this premise he takes you through comping, chord voicings, grooves, walking bass lines and more. All of the examples are supported by either standard notation, diagrams, or TAB. This text is best suited for players that have a tiny bit of theory under their belts.
John Jackson is a rural folk/blues guitarist from Virginia, and this new book Don't Let Your Deal Go Down features partial transcriptions of 25 of his works from the years 1965-69. Notation is presented in tablature and standard notation, and info on obtaining Jackson's recordings is provided in the book. Titles include Black Snake Moan, John Henry, John's Rag, Reuben, Bear Cat Blues, Red River Blues, Knife Blues, Graveyard Blues, Early Morning Blues, and You Ain't No Woman.
Early Music Favorites For Acoustic Guitar features music from the Renaissance period, including the traditional Greensleeves. Pieces are written separately in standard notation and TAB, but on opposite pages. Author Richard Matteson prefaces the music with a few introductions to the Italian, French-Flemish, Spanish, English, and German schools of playing, plus some historical info as well. The book also features music for Kemp's Jig, The Chilesotti Lute Suite, The Six Milan Pavans, Three Pieces by Narvaez, Fantasia by Mudarra, and Two Pieces by John Dowland.
