Grade 1 starts with the basics like tuning, how to hold the instrument, how to hold the pick etc., and launches right into the rudiments of music. In addition to the staff notation (there is no TAB), Bay illustrates his concepts with very nicely done diagrams of the hand and guitar neck in an upright fashion. A very nice start for the beginning guitarist that wants a musical approach to learning guitar.
